A year too big to fit into a frame. And some wishes.

A YEAR TOO BIG TO FIT INTO A FRAME. AND SOME WISHES.

I’ve come a long way since I first picked up this little box that could capture time. I’ve lived and shot in Prague for four years before I moved to Bangalore last year. As I look back, I realize time flies, in spite of my best efforts to hold on to it.

I TRAVELED.

It was a crazy year full of travels from Bangalore – Tirupathi – Chennai – Vellore – Leh – Ladakh – Hyderabad – Mumbai – Goa – Cochin – Sirsi – Alazhupzha – Wagamon – Coorg. I soaked in diverse cultures and gorged as many cuisines, shooting Christian, Hindu, Punjabi, destination weddings and more.

TO MANAGE TIME AND SHOOT MORE STORIES.

First on my list would be time that I want to manage better. Because I tend to get lost on the editing table, trying to tell and re-tell stories for the wedding books I create.

Talking about stories, though more elaborate, Portraiture is something I’d like to explore further this year. I absolutely love how it naturally lends itself to story-telling by highlighting character traits, quirks and special moments to add drama to images.

TO MEET INTERESTING PEOPLE.

A while back I shot a portrait for a very talented author and friend from Prague, Helen Oyeyemi. I enjoyed the process so much, that ever since, I’ve been hoping to meet interesting people from varied professions, to shoot their portraits. That’s definitely on the cards for the year.

TO REINVENT.

I also believe in reinventing myself, which is why I tried my hand at making Cinemagraphs. And I might just be the first one in India to have tried it. So to keep the spirit of reinvention alive next year, I plan to experiment with short videos for weddings.

TO SHOOT ALL KINDS OF WEDDINGS BIG AND SMALL.

It’s the uninhibited emotions, the vibrant colors and the people, that draw me into weddings and I enjoy each and every one of them. Be it a rustic wedding in a simple hall or even an exotic destination wedding. Though I must add that shooting the world’s highest pre-wedding shoot (at Kardungla pass 18,000 ft above sea level) was thrilling. And I’d be overjoyed to do it again!
